Versus

Was reading the chinese newspaper Nan Yang Shang Bao(LOL) yesterday when an article caught my attention.Its about comparing behavior of us chinese with the malays.The reporter wrote according to her daily experience and encounters.She thinks malays are very polite.For instance,in the event in coffee shops or mammaks,she noticed that majority of the malays will whisper 'kak,collect the bills pls..' while chinese have a tradition of shouting 'Eh Boss,kira bill?' hahaha..thats so true..
In the hospital on the other hand,she wrote,we keep firing complaines bout how slow the machines are,the workers are arrogant,the service are poor and so on(ooh tat sounds familiar..i always do that lol)..What we didnt notice is that we didnt even smile and cant expect to be treated that way!Of coz all the staff seemed glummy..
Then,mainly of the malays will give a grateful smile and say Thank You to the bus driver when they got off the bus,while us chinese?We just take it for granted and gone off without even glancing to the driver.'Yeah we paid them for the service,so why should we say Thank you?its their job!'we conclude.Yeah i had experienced it too in the UTP interview!All the malay students are just as polite!!I just felt so awkward saying Thank you to the bus driver ,but nevertheless i followed them and uttered a small thx to the driver..XD maybe cuz we were nvr been taught that its courteous to do these..?*shrug*
i think we should look up to the malays when it comes to courtesy and work on our manners :)
